Sorry to take up space on the forums, but are mob spawning rates affected in skyblock? I am planning to create a mob grinder and possibly an overworld gold farm, but I am not sure how effective these would be if the spawning rates were altered.

Haha I went into the same problem. Here are some tips:

Render distance is set to 2: distance when mobs come into view. It is ideal to have a render distance of 10 for increased mob spawning rates, and an allowable far distance.

Red stone is so bad, flushing systems will become broken, and sometimes they just won't work, believe me when I say I tried.

Putting Slabs under blocks seem to have increased mob spawning rates

More space for mobs to spawn increase spawn rates, blocks must be adjacent/connected to each other

Must be 26-32 blocks away if you want mobs to move, farther than that the mobs will stay where they are, closer then the mobs won't spawn.

I use a natural spawning pigman farm, visit my island at /is warp Wrys, find a portal to go to the nether. I have over 5 levels of slabs in spherical rings touching all borders 99x99.

Also remember not to put light in your systems

SERVER SUPRESSES MOB SPAWNING BY lowering difficulty, player count in server also decreases mob spawning, also you should be in an active chunk where the mobs spawn.

Hey bro, If I could give you some advice, do something with it if you'd like to.

1. DONT MAKE A GOLDFARM <: Because the Zombiepigman spawners are expensive, + they keep glitching out and spawn outside. I've used to have 3 of them and they killed me 3 times with my best stuff on when I afkd on my Island.
2. Best way is just an afk farm for blazes (auto-Crusher), Iron golem farm or Creeper farm.

even with a fully working and afkable gold farm, it still is pretty bad, gold does not cost that much and is really slow on the grinding side. I have a overworld gold farm on my island, made from nether portals, and i average usually around 5-7 stacks a day, even though my warp is afked at all day, the cost of the gold farm was 200k in total for the obsidian. i receive around 9k a day from the gold i collect. although the rates are ok, i do not suggest building this type of farm, you could make much more from using a lucky 2 pickaxe on cobblestone/stone/sugarcane.

Best starting point would be to process gunpowder, iron or grind at other people's islands (processing), do what the rich cant be bothered to do

I'd like to add something to this thread.
Have you guys considered netherworld pigmen farming? It is very effective for me and I average a stack of gold every 1-2 hours. However the way I have it set up it is not afk-able, because I need the pigmen to lock onto me as a target in order to fall to their death. Check /warp Wrys you will have to fly up to one of the big islands and visit the nether portal.
