So the other day I was bored, and decided to go on the snapcraft forums using the media center computers. The website was blocked by our normal anti-block software the school uses. But what surprised me was, the web filter is a manual one, they manually choose the sights and categories in which is blocked so why did they target snapcraft but I can go on other forums perfectly fine.. Makes no sense?

Strange...my theory suggests that the school was looking at the db of people's searches and saw the link.

your school's realized that snapcraft is way cooler than they are, so they blocked it.

Most of the time school networks don't manually block sites... They will block sites using different programs, such as one that is controlled through your schools network. Or one that is installed onto the desktops/laptops manually. There are 0 instances where a school would manually block every site.

But there are ways around this, since they block most vpns one way to get around our web filter one of the biggest examples is to go into google translate, type the link that usually involves "hub" at the end ;-) and then click the output link. This gives you full access every time and the link is not even visibly changed. This is why I feel like they manually block sites.

You must be homeschooled because it would take an insane amount of time to block everything manually. Including a minecraft forum site lmao.

Must just be distracting, or they saw some inappropriate content in it before it was reported/removed.
