"combat Update" Really?

On the mojang news site dinnerbone set a link to a 2 pixel tall image. However, when combined, created this image:

although it would be quite cool to have an update like this, i do not think that it is real.
It would be too hard of a job to create such an update, and most of the preveiw videos I have seen secretly use mods and/or resource packs.

Finally, I feel that adding so much more items and mobs would be a little too far fetched, and i doubt it would be amazingly popular.

I agree that I doubt it's an update, but I don't have any context with this. For all I know it could just be him screwing around with a mod, or it could be him seriously working to update arrows, add quivers and change things around. Believe it or not, Dinnerbone is the hardest working member of Mojang (at least from what I've heard). Even sounds harsh to say, but with the top dogs pushed to the side Dinnerbone has room to flourish. c:

If new mobs and UI layout and blah blah are being talked about, don't forget that they have a lot of mod creators and willing sources that would love to help (Like the guy over at Mo'Creatures did with horses). If Mojang is truly stepping up its game (literally), cookies for them! I'm all up on the bandwagon, especially if magic evolves.

i understand that dinnerbone and mojang combined is like a t-rex with grippers but just consider that mojang took months to create just a couple blocks and a guardian for the 1.8 update.

Actually, if you didn't know, there have been MANY new things added/removed/fixed in the 1.8 update, needless to say. And I'm sure they're working very hard on new updates. Guardians, and "a couple blocks" were just the main/popular/known, (like rabbits, muttons, decor, etc), things added. Let's just wait and see what happens!

You guys do realize, the quiver was in an early version in minecraft, infact theres alot of unused things. Heres a link about the quiver in early minecraft: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Quiver#Quiver

yes. i did know that.
Then whats wrong with a combat update, I dont mean to accuse you of anything, but its either your lying and didnt know that, or you have some other ridiculous reason that a combat update would be a bad idea.

I wouldn't say it's a "bad idea" it's just different and it'll change pvping a lot, some people don't like change and there's nothing wrong with that. It's just matter of opinion, you might think it's a great idea while others will not. If they do change how combat works then mojang could potentially lose or gain lots of players.
Personally I don't block or shield when I'm in combat so I don't really think that part effects me, the bow, however does. (okay effect affect whatever lol).
I tend to use the bow a lot and I've heard there's going to be some changes for that as well. I'm not sure how I feel about it but you can't just get mad(or whatever) at someone because they don't agree with you...

Why do you think the combat update is going to be good? (Legit question, not trying to be sarcastic or anything). Just because it's something new? Makes the game more exciting?
idk if what I even said made sense

Im just saying, sheesh whats wrong with it, he is saying its impossible and really hard even though its been done, and it seems like hes lying cause he thinks its impossible and knows about how its been made.

I would like an update like this. And honestly, I think minecraft needs it :-P cuz just jumping up and down swinging a sword isn't the best combat for a game lol

I want there to be restaurants in minecraft or on the server. For example on factions you can hit up McDonalds and not get to low hunger for a long time
