Ive got a question about the rate of growth when it comes of crops/farming

I've just created an account here and I'm unsure if 'post a thread' button is where I ask this question (sorry if I am in the wrong place)
okay so I was wondering if its just me or somethings wrong. I've timed myself and I've been playing for an hour and my (medium sized) wheat farm hasn't grown much, only 2 seeds have sprouted to age 2, this seems slow, idk maybe its just me xD
Could someone pleaseee tell me if I'm crazy or if something is actually wrong, it'll be much appreciated :-DD

I know, this happens to me as well. I think you need to be doing something around your crops in order for your crops to grow.

Are you in the chunk of the farm area? You need to be close by for it to grow.

Like Maarten and others have said you have to be close. The game does a check for updates every tick (its way more technical then that but lets be simple). To save the servers processor and all that from having to check tens of thousands upon tens of thousands of blocks each tick, it only checks those in a certain chunk radius of a player. Snapcraft like many servers sets that radius based on performance needs. If you want your crops to grow fast invest a portion of your money in bone meal or build everything including your farm and house in a tight radius around you. You can see chunks with F3+G.

It takes a season to grow mature wheat. Harvest time is around September. Wheat must be watered frequently and the soil must be prepared with nutrients. I recommend using old fruit to help the wheat grow. One hour for even a sprouting to emerge is really fast! You may be looking at another plant you are growing. Maybe you should try removing all the weeds around the wheat? Is it possible that pre-fall's harvest are still growing because you haven't taken out the roots yet?

Good luck on farming. Remember that plants need sunlight, water, Carbon dioxide, good soil, and pick out the weeds.
