Ok. Don't get me wrong, I love plug.dj. I love the concept and I think it's a great thing to have. But, no offense to any moderators, the skipping could use some work. I'm tired of a song getting 5 mehs, but because no one is spamming chat with skip, it keeps getting played. But when I play a song, some 5 year olds decide to spam with "SKIP ALREADY" "PLEASE SKIP" when it's sitting around 4 or 5 mehs. There needs do be a definite rule, which can differ depending on how many people are in the group at the moment, of how many mehs deserves a skip. For example, when there are 30 people listening 10 mehs is a skip. When there are 20, 7 mehs is a skip. Or something like that. I just hope that the current state of the group changes. It shouldn't be: The louder you are, the more people listen to you! It should be, the set rule of mehs is reached and the song is skipped as according to the rule. Also, there needs to be a rule with replays. Regardless of how long it took said person to reach the top of the list, replays are really unfortunate. There needs to be a set length between repeats of the same song. Other than that (things like cussing and such) should be left completely up to the active staff. Users should know that when a song is half cuss words, it's too much.

Edit: If possible, try to stay unbiased about songs. If you see a song from a certain fandom that you have something against, please don't meh immediately. Listen to the song, then make your decision. If you don't like the song, then fine. But who cares if someone watches some widely disliked artist or media producer. As the old saying goes, "Don't judge a book by it's cover."

I agree. The mods on plug.dj are abusing their power quite often.

Yesterday was a confusing day. At the start I was told to do the old 'skip after 5 mehs' rule, but then we kept having more and more people join, so I moved to 'skip after 12'. Then I was told that, well, if you have more mehs than woots, then you should skip it. I then followed that rule. What I do is I wait 30 seconds before seeing if a song is getting more or less mehs. Now, I can't count 30 seconds out because I'm doing things in the background, but I personally don't listen to the chat. The people there yell "Skiiiiiiip" .2 seconds after the song starts, and to be honest they've been getting on my nerves.

None of my skips are biased. If it's funny and people want it (like- yes, this happened- Rick Astley last night), I let it go. If it's funny but people don't want it and display that by meh'ing it to the bottom of the ocean, then I skip it. Here's a list of things that I skip: Songs with excessive profanity, songs that are overplayed, songs over 6 minutes long, songs that people don't want, songs that contain an epileptic video. That's about it. Between going back and forth with my rules and the meh rule, some songs are going to be lost. There are plenty that I wanted to hear but had to skip because of how many dislikes it had; this is all just background music to me.

Right, but I'm just covering all bases with my explanation. Working with Plug.dj is an entire other ball field compared to server work, and I haven't used Plug for a long time now since it was gone for a while. Give us some slack ;P

The time before Plug was down for a while, I was used to stay out of the Plug.dj snapcraft community. Why? Because once I started playing a song of a mostly unknown and unfamous genre people meh'd instantly and started harrasing me in the chat. I remember when my songs were skipped like 5 times in a row because some people wanted to hear "I'm a Barby and I'm plastic - sh..ttysongwhatever" (which was stuck in the waitlist by an afker). The skip problem would be solved if people actually listened first (like you said) and staff skipped once a song is played more often than once (or is too long). But, uhm, why don't you (all those dj's out there) listen to even the most meh'd song j4f?
At least that ^ would be a way my music could be shared. >_>

I bet they wouldn't vote for emo songs only. Anyway, that's how it is. And I can't chance peoples mind. Good luck finding other songs, though, that get wooted for.
