Block Distance??

I've been thinking about this for a while. I asked a few people who had different answers.

The question is: If there are five blocks and me and my friend are standing on both ends
what is the block distance from me to my friend?
Do I say it's 5 4 or 3 blocks away?

Should I count the blocks from where I'm standing to where my friend is standing?
Or do I count the blocks between us?

All of this was because we were trying to figure out the hit distance in a 1v1.

I believe would be 3-4 blocks distance. Even if you run then might get closer, all depend on right time and speed move and which angle.

I did some research about that question. There one person said he test it out and it is should be 4 blocks apart.

4 blocks? is that blocks between or from standing point?

Yes, I believe, it is from the range not where you standing block. If you and your friend stand on 1 vs 1 then would be 6 blocks range.

Wow! that's exactly what I was looking for! thanks!

So a player has to be with in 3 - 2 blocks from the standing point of the enemy in order to hit them. Great!
