Factions sponge explosive question

I was wondering does it make differense on how much do sponge take explosive damage before breaking if its wet or not?

I would imagine that the sponge filled with water would take more because water does reduce or eliminate explosive damage, but the dry sponges cost more in shop so it would have to be a test in creative. I hope you find your answer.
