how many chunks high get rendered in from where I'm standing? I'm wondering how high i can make my cacti farm before it goes out of active chunk render.

Chunk renders dont matter if your going upwards or downwards

Like Arkalyte said, it's technically all the same chunk. They'll be loaded all the way to the height limit if that's as tall as you make it.
