Enderpearl Glitching...

I have recently been enderpearling away from enemies, seeing what a good idea it is to get away from them - but it tends to kill me. This has happened to me not twice but thrice. The latest time it has happened was when I attempted to throw an enderpearl over a mountain in an attempt of desperation. When I hit the mountain I began suffocating and died. One time it was so bad I needed the owner to teleport me to spawn. Has this happened to anyone else or is it a player problem?

That's not a glitch...... It's essentially fall damage. Depending on armor, enchants, you will take some damage. The suffocation problem is mojang's side, we cannot change that.
