Forum levels are used based on how many posts you make. You just earned the title, "Tree Puncher" for making 10 posts. The most you are on and post more, the better you get in the titles you earn. No need to worry about post farming, from what I heard...
However, do not reply on threads that are no older than 2 weeks, this will be considered, "Bumping". By all means, please read the rules.
