Help Sponge Bug Name Change

personal hello I am asking for help because now mojang allows you to change the minecraft account name and my friend changed the name and no longer has access to your sponge but their items continue with it please help some staff could break the sponge and return to it?

Do not change your name, But you are doing so make sure you break the sponges before and replace them with your new name.

Its not a bug, Its the way the data is saved for protections by name, A reset would be required to to switch to uuid.

would adding your new name to the sponge work as a temporary fix?

using /ps add newname before you change it would work but you wouldnt be able to break them if you do so.
