Nice machine. I like it for two reasons; 1. It is not afk. Meaning its allowed. 2. It will allow you to select just ores if you want.
The answer to how far it will go is 12. A piston can only push to 12. So you could do 12 stacks of pistons to push sideways.

Lol it takes a while but its an attraction on my island since its like a volcano. Plus my island is max size for a basic island, so its gives me something to do.
