Leaf decay

So I have planted my own trees and now after chopping them down its just a roof of leaves, why is it that leaves don't decay? This makes tree farming so tedious.
I kinda understand if the big tree in the plot would lose the leaves, but placed leaves (and with world edit etc) don't decay at all.

Ugh I hate when leaves don't decay ;-; it gives me OCD. @Twiggy any ideas why or this is a setting?

Most likely a flag set so a specific group of leafs do not decay.

The trees on the plots will decay if this is changed.
