Mob Crazy

Not that its a complaint so much as a curiosity and a concern.
My island is now at its furthest limitations. But I have noticed that since yesterday the mob spawn rate is massive. I can walk about 10 blocks and in front of me 10 to 15 spiders, 12-20 zombies and tons of creepers and skeletons will spawn. I am curious if this happens because of my island being the size it is or if this is a programming adjustment to the spawn rate? Is this common or is something new?

It's common, if you build a huge flat area with no light a ton of mobs spawn, it's something I've been running into on my island(since I first began playing SkyBlock last year). Just light it up and mobs won't spawn.

Sadly I should have known this. I have lighting but after a look at light levels id say 50 or more percent of my space falls below the limitation levels.
