Sheep Spawner Not Spawning

Everytime I log back in It has a different color sheep in it, but it isn't spawning.
I looked everywhere, even under the house. I don't hear any sheep either.
I gave it plenty of room.
Could they be spawning somewhere else? Why wouldn't I hear them?
Is it even possible for a spawner to be defective?

Ask yourself these questions?:
Do you have light in the area?
Do you have grass in the area?
Do you have grass NEAR the spawner?

Maybe these will help your concern.
