Sponge Vs Obsidian

So, i started playing on this server not long ago, and i'm trying to establish a base.
But i can't see any diference between sponges and obsidian, besides the price.
Any help?

Obsidian breaker will be turned on soon, when that happens obsidian will be breakable. Sponge on the other hand will not be breakable from TNT blasts but can be broke by withering.

Ok, so i saw that custum Enchantment withering. Can someone explain me how it works please?

It has the possibility of placing the withering effect on the opposing player. (Higher the lvl, higher the chance).

Oh, so to raid a sponge base tou have to actually create the withering monster?

When he said withering it was not the custom enchant, it was spawning a wither the vanilla way and hitting that wither into the walls of the base which will destroy it.


Edit: yes spawning a wither using wither heads and soul sand
