Gold Miner
Many people want to know, how to make a gold! Here is what you need to know
(Read the final design if you want to read on how to make the working gold farm)
I made one in sc2 (When me and Frijoler basically introduced gold farms to SC). We tried around 3 designs in the overworld in the nether.
Design 1:
Pigman would spawn on platforms, fall down, into a killing chamber. Killing chamber needed water, **DESIGN FLAW** so we scrapped it.
Design 2:
Pigman spawn on pressure plates, **DESIGN FLAW**, and that triggers a piston that kills them. They take fall damage and are killed, while a minecart goes around that I have to be in to pick items up (hoppers were disabled)
Design 3:
This design could have worked. It was the same as above the no redstone. Didn't work so well, I still have no idea why.
Design 4:
This was in 1.7! This used around 200-250 portals. The portals Pigman would fall, making them go to a killing chamber. In the killing chamber was a manual and an auto killing area. Worked great!
Final Design: Works in snapcraft now!
What is the flaw in most of these? The killing system. In sc3 SalsaFire and I came up with a great design that only used 4 sponges for the pigman spawner!
I'm going to break the gold farm design to make it easy for you to make:
Make a good sized area for you to work from. The entire floor needs to be hoppers, so make it a decent size!
(Mine was 4 sponges, that would be 42x42)
Put slabs over all of the hoppers
Leave a 4 block gap (including the slab) before placing a block.
THERE SHOULD BE 4 BLOCKS IN-BETWEEN THE BLOCK AND THE FLOOR!
Start making 3 block rows going along the farm, leaving a 1 block space in between each row. These rows will allow pigman to spawn.
Put trapdoors on the sides of these holes and close them.
Make enough room for the pigman to spawn, and make another layer above!
Killing System:
I wanted my gold farm to be as compact as possible so what I did was filled the bottom layer with iron golems. The golems want to attack the pitman, but the pitman don't want to attack the golems. So your golems SHOULDN'T die.
The hoppers can lead to a storage area, whatever you like.
But, your gold farm is done! Enjoy the endless supply of gold!
(I can do a video on this if you would like me to, I will happily!)
