Survival: Protection Sponge not covering 21x21x21 area

I placed a protection sponge, then built my house to precisely fit the 21x21 area. Then I placed another sponge right behind to cover the next 21x21 area. Both zones were working perfectly. Then I placed a third sponge and then suddenly the area on my 1st sponge stopped working correctly. It no longer covers a 21x21x21 area.

I removed the third sponge completely. The first zone was still broken. Then I broken the 1st sponge and replaced it multiple times. I've logged out/in multiple times. Now I'm concerned more than half my original zone is unprotected and vulnerable to destruction and looting.

Are there any Admins or Mods that can help? I've asked in game a couple of times without response or help.
