Cow Coins
Cow Coins; they were introduced as a second currency to the start of the growing career of Wrys on Skyblock, representing a decapitated cow's head.
What are Cow Coins?
- Artificial currency regulated by Wrys, a helper on the server
- A representation of a currency; constantly changing in value
- A decapitated cow head named "Cow Coin" that shows it has been killed by Wrys
- A raffle ticket that can be used before participation in the PvP event that will pay out many times the value of the coin if you have won.
- (Ex. You bought a cow coin for 10k from someone, and before winning a Hunger Games event you bet on your skills to win and hand the cow coin over to me, the host of the event. Since you have won you have earned 50k and one spin in the wheel of fortune.) Learn more here
- Depending purely on basic supply and demand principles, in the hands of the traders, Cow Coins change in value
- The changing value entirely depends on it's applications
- (i.e. the rewards from winning the PvP events)
- More applications may be created over time, so now is a good time to start investing in Cow Coins
History of the Cow Coin
Cow Coins came to my mind as a thought. If you know me as a person you would understand that I constantly change my hobbies and interests. This idea was born from my love for the stock market. I wanted Skyblocks to get out of the dust it was in. It seemed to be an abandoned wish well, people dropping by in disappointment, often uttering, "Skyblocks is dying".
I figured things didn't work out because the current way to get people to play isn't compatible with the interests of the player base anymore, so I worked on my idea of gambling. As sick as it was, I used the concept of addiction to fuel the growing business so that I could start investing more time into my island.
Late August, that was the date of the first gambling machine I had built.
Here's how it worked:
- Player drops three diamonds into the hopper/item filter
- The machine detects the diamonds and activates the torch burn mechanism
- Nine redstone signals are sent to the dropper containing the prizes in succession and the dropper throws out nine random items
Konradfreestun
My first customer, spending hundreds of thousands to gamble just to win a pair of prot IV diamonds boots, which he had mistaken for prot VI (lol).
I toyed with the concept throughout the month, changing it from a raffle ticket to buy prizes, then to a stock market investment, to an investment that can not drop in profits, to a raffle ticket that can change in value.
Despite me not being able to make up my mind, Cow Coins became more and more popular, and I bet it still hasn't reached 10% of it's potential.
I like to think that it was not me who started these things, it was the community that supported me who did. I have received many donations in the past three months, and connected with other interested players who helped to refine this idea. Without these guys I am sure I would have given up.
Thanks for reading!
P.S. the original cow coin info page has been replaced by this one just so it's not as boring.
