Hello everyone! I recently made a poem for a friend because she lost the love of her life. I wanted to share it to the community because I decided to enter this particular poem into a contest. The 1st place prize is 250$ and I'd like to hear your opinions. It got accepted into the top 5 poems and I have a chance of winning the money.
The topic was: 'Girls Lost Love'. It didn't take me too long to make it, but I had to make it in a specific location. I went to a place for more info about the poetry contest and I had to write my poetry there because they didn't want me to look any poems up or cheat/copy. I want opinions on my poem and rate it. Also, the purpose of this thread was to share your poetry! Let others see how you express yourself! This poem doesn't express me, but a very dear friend of mine. I also thought about using this in my anti-bullying film. I am in a film festival where I have to make a film about a girl getting bullied. I might use this poem in the film, and the prize is 5k$!

The Cold Winter Rain

I sat outside, in the cold winter rain
Hoping he would come, to take me again. (a-GAIN)
I looked at my hands, to see white, cream snow.
I felt my muscles tense, but it was probably for the best.
I saw someone in his house, so I decided to check.
I looked at his window, to only see a shadow a-flow.
I remember the day we met, it was a slow hearty day.
It soon turned into hell, with you shot at bay.
I knew it to be true, The man who lied before me, was genuine and true.
Before I met you, I was a lonely wanderer, searching for a place to belong,
you came into my life, and gave me love,
you gave me hope, and a place to call home.
I saw you with my eyes, I knew it had to be lies.
I treasured you in my heart, Only wishing we'd never be apart.
My heart really hurts, and my chest is in pain.
My life without you, will never be the same.
Some say a broken heart is like a shattered vase,
Fragile edible pieces scattered all over the place.
When you left me alone, I knew I didn't have a place to call home.
I remember how it used to be, you and me,
having fun times, living super wild dreams.
You were my angel, you fell into my heart
My heart has been broken, where do I even start?
But like all stories, it must come to an end.
I will never forget that, you were always my friend.
But there is one saying, that is always true.
"True friends are never apart,
Maybe in distance,
But never in heart."
With that being said, I walked down the lane.
I then started to smile, but it soon faded away.
But I knew in my mind, It would always stay; in
