Well, an easy way to make money is to make a grinder or a farm. Though if you're looking to get on the island top then I'd suggest building the best island you can with seemingly expensive items. If you're more so just wanting to play, then maybe just build an island the way you want and complete the island challenges(/c or /challenge).
But that is just my perspective on it, I mostly enjoy playing to play tbh. :-P
