So I attended this colloquium hosted by UT Austin, and one of the sessions was a "Physics Circus" presented to us by a university professor. What you are about to see has NOTHING to do with physics

. Later on he began splashing liquid nitrogen on us. That's, uh, cool and all, but FFS, liquid nitrogen is about -200C and the wave hit my hair with a thud. That meant that it was still in liquid form, and it was cold. Not "hand in a tub of ice cubes" cold, but "headache-numbingly" cold. It's a good thing though that liquid nitrogen, upon hitting a warm surface, forms a protective layer of gaseous nitrogen that insulates the surface from the cold. For small amounts of liquid nitrogen, anyways. I'm sure that the professor has an 80% retention rate with the 20% dying or whatever every year.
